The High Road School has awarded us their most recent project in Lanham, MD. 26,000 square feet designed by Maginnis + Del Ninno Architects.
This project was a 30,000 sf. build‐out of the 5th floor at 2055 L Street. The design is under review for award of LEED CI silver certification. It consisted of high end finishes, a multimedia presentation room, multiple conference rooms, an extensive decorative glass package, open ceilings and a full catering pantry. This elaborate design was delivered on time and on budget by Kalmia Construction.
Kalmia partnered with OTJ Architects and McBride Real Estate Services on this interior construction project to deliver a new headquarters to facilitate Child Trends move from Washington to Bethesda. Child Trends is nonprofit, nonpartisan research center that provides valuable information and insights on the well-being of children and youth.”

In just over 10 weeks Kalmia delivered the new space which featured a robust design and interior construction including excellent meeting facilities, inter-floor stairs, catering pantries, and renovated bathroom /shower facilities. OTJ’s design seamlessly blended existing elements, such existing cherry wood finishes, with new aluminum & glass details. The success of this project under significant time constraints was a major achievement for Kalmia Construction and the entire project team.
Child Trend’s Broker Marc Shandler said, “Kalmia was the contractor for a 28,000 square foot lease for a client. Child Trends was in need of a partner to help get two floors of new space prepared in just over 10 weeks to facilitate their move from Washington DC to Bethesda. The space featured a robust design involving existing wood doors/frames, new aluminum doors/frame, an inter-floor stairwell, renovated bathrooms, renovated showers, new conferencing area, and catering pantries. Kalmia worked 7 days a week with a dedicated team of designers, trades, and vendors to get this client in on time while still maintaining a dedication to quality.
Technology leader Neustar selected Kalmia Construction to construct their 92,000 square foot new headquarters including an executive briefing center, training rooms, an exercise room, and an employee cafeteria. This was the second Neustar project delivered by Kalmia. The primary design strategy was to create an open and bright environment that would give employees a great place to work while enhancing the company culture.
The completion of this 70,000 square foot project marked the 4Th successful corporate interior partnership between technology leader Neustar and Kalmia Construction.

This 70,000 square foot corporate interior project was a multiphase, tenant occupied renovation that demanded strong collaboration skills and a close working relationship between Kalmia’s superintendent, project manager, the owner and architect. This latest Neustar project highlights included high end finishes with back-painted glass whiteboards, glass tile back splash, glass partitions, conference rooms wired for teleconferencing and other new media needs. Great communication and a detailed but flexible project management plan allowed for the work to be finished on time and on budget.
Kalmia recently finished WDCW-TV in Washington DC. The broadcast facility build-out was located in a 225,000 square foot tenant occupied building. Our architectural design partner was Lou Gauci and his team at OTJ Architects. This was a fast track project that had to be completed within 45 days. “Kalmia was able to complete the project in a timely fashion given the time constraints they were given, and with limited interruption to our work environment. We are very pleased with our finished space and the attention to detail that Kalmia provided .” said WDCW’s VP/General Manager Ashley Messina.
